Los Llamarada: Lost (2003)

So this is —for me— the favorite recording of our pre-song-based, pre-S.S. Records era. And the first recording I considered an album.

These are lo-fi, mono tracks recorded mostly inside a small room in Guadalupe, Nuevo León, June 2003. Our lineup featured for a very short time two guitars (Johnny N & Herla Alarcón), bass (Brenda aka Mandy), drums (Dany) and me on ocassional vocals/recording. Live mixing was done by moving the boombox tape recorder from amp to amp when needed.

Our first EP (What Goes On, 2003) was a collection of covers (the Velvets!) and some originals: the first LP, (Start a Fire, 2003) was a grab bag of recent tracks bookended by our favorite Wire song. Lost (2003) included only original material (I guess...) , and was the first time that I spent quite a while looking for the right sequence, locating those tapes I liked and then burning the tracks into CD using a stereo, trying to preserve some sound texture. A sound that I sometimes called rural noise.

We sold it as a CD-R during our gigs, but the years passed and we lost (indeed) all copies and files, except for the tracks included in the Nene Records compilation Soundliketrains (now at the Free Music Archive) and some mp3s I found in Soulseek (!). But now we have located a CD, so here are some tracks from our veryyy early days,
